Leadership is deeply human work.
Strategy, structure, systems, and resources matter. But organizations ultimately move through people: the conversations they are willing to have, the trust they build, the decisions they make, and the courage they bring to what comes next.
At CORE, we believe change happens one conversation at a time and change happens at the pace of trust. That belief shapes how we work with senior leaders, leadership teams, boards, and organizations navigating complexity, transition, growth, and renewal.
We begin with the person behind the leadership role, not just the responsibilities they carry. Effective leadership requires more than techniques and tools. It requires clarity about values, self-awareness, judgment, courage, relationships, and the way a leader shows up when the stakes, and the possibilities, matter.
CORE brings frameworks, tailored curriculum, and disciplined processes to the work, but we do not believe meaningful leadership development comes from a template. Every engagement is shaped around the people, organization, culture, context, and challenge at hand. The framework serves the work—not the other way around.
Shaped by Lived Leadership
I am Beverlee J. McClure, Ed.D., founder of CORE Leadership & Life. My career has included serving as a university president, cabinet-level secretary, nonprofit and business executive, entrepreneur, board leader, educator, and adviser.
Across those roles, I have carried responsibility for people, organizations, difficult decisions, financial realities, growth, transition, and significant change. I have worked with boards, built and led teams, navigated competing priorities, and experienced firsthand the weight that comes with leadership.
Those experiences taught me that leaders rarely need one more formula telling them what to do. More often, they need the space to think clearly, examine what is true, consider possibilities they may not yet see, have the conversations that matter, and move forward with intention.
That is the foundation of CORE: lived leadership, being before doing, and context before template.
Leadership is not only about what you accomplish. It is about who you become, what you build with others, and whether the way you lead is sustainable enough to matter over time.
